Located within the Karkloof Nature Reserve, Rockwood Karkloof Forest Lodge & Rockwood Mountain Cabin are three-bedroomed self-catering units nestled in and around indigenous African forest offering a tranquil and secluded escape from city life. The units are located 5 km from one another.

Crisp linen and toiletries are provided for your comfort. Mountain Lodge is solar-powered. Both units have spectacular views and outdoor dining areas equipped with Big Green Eggs. Forest Lodge has a childrens playground.

The units areperfectly suited for relaxing and leisurely getaways for families, friends and couples. Units are close to fresh water, rivers, dams, waterfalls, grasslands, indigenous forest and the famous hiking, walking and mountain bike trails of the Karkloof. Guests enjoy exclusive access to the Karkloof Nature Reserve for hiking, mountain biking, trail running, dam swimming, fishing and the eco-antidote to tech-boom burnout of forest bathing.

Situated in the Kwazulu Natal Midlands on the famous Midlands Meander, just 20 kilometres from Howick, the property is easily accessed from the N3 freeway between Durban and Johannesburg. An hour and a half drive from Durban, a five-hour drive (door to door) from Johannesburg and 40 minutes from Pietermaritzburg.

The hotel day starts from hour 15:00 and ends at 10:30.

Please note, Rockwood Forest Lodge and Mountain Cabin are reachable by rough terrain and require 4x4 or high-clearance vehicles for access. The units are located 5 km from one another in different areas of the Reserve. We ask guests to please check-in at the Rockwood Office Reception before proceeding to either unit. Guests are further requested to please contact the Rockwood Office when they leave the town of Howick to confirm check-in. Guests are advised to follow the directions provided by the property as Google directions to Mountain Lodge arealways possible.Please inform in advance of your expected arrival time. Two-Bedroom Chalet. Featuring an outdoor shower, this cottage has a lounge with satellite TV and iPod docking station. The cottage features a well-equipped kitchen. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a bath or a shower. Known as Rockwood Farm Cottage, this unit is 25 metres away from Rockwood Farm House and is near an unfenced dam. ;
Four-Bedroom Farm House. Overlooking an unfenced dam and surrounded by lush greenery, this farmhouse is warm and inviting with wooden floors and large windows. The lounge has comfortable seating and comes with satellite TV and a DVD player. The house also includes a well-equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave and stove. Known as Rockwood Farm House, this unit is 25 metres away from Rockwood Farm Cottage. ;
Three-Bedroom Forest Bungalow. 4x4 HIGH CLEARANCE VEHICLE IS REQUIRED TO REACH THIS UNIT Situated on a stream and surrounded by natural forest with plenty of space for family fun, this bungalow features a fireplace in the seating area. Along with a TV, the unit has a fully-equipped kitchen and there are 3 bedrooms with a bath or shower in each. Known as Rockwood Forest Lodge, this unit is 5km from the Rockwood Farm House and Cottage. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO MOBILE NETWORK COVERAGE. ;
Three-Bedroom Chalet. This unit requires a 4x4 high-clearance vehicle access or a transfer can be arranged upon request. Known as Rockwood Mountain Lodge, this eco-friendly lodge is situated in a natural clearing of the forest, 5 km from the Rockwood Farm House and Cottage. Completely gas and solar energy powered, the unit offers a balcony with a seating area, well-equipped kitchen, lounge and dining area. There is 1 en-suite bathroom and 1 common bathroom, both fitted with a bath or shower.
